About Us

Apothecary Genetics Company has been a leading seed breeding companies since 1996.

The Apothecary Genetics Company started growing in the early 90's in Gig Harbor, Washington. I became very ill and was looking for an alternative medication for my illness. I realized then that I needed to create Apothecary Genetics to provide an alternative solution. Through my world travels, I have been able to find "land race strains" and breed them with hybrids to create World Class Medical Cannabis.

In 2004, Bret Bogue opened Apothecary Genetics in Northern California and through research and development we created such strains as Old School Jams, KAIA Kush, 3-D, and Sour Grapes. In 2009, we moved to Southern California to bring these genetics and many more for years to come.

What is an Apothecary?

Apothecary is a historical name for a medical professional who formulates and dispenses materia medica to physicians, surgeons and patients — a role now served by a pharmacist (or, especially in British English, a chemist or dispensing chemist).

In addition to pharmacy responsibilities, the apothecary offered general medical advice and a range of services that are now performed solely by other specialist practitioners, such as surgery and midwifery. Apothecaries often operated through a retail shop which, in addition to ingredients for medicines, sold tobacco and patent medicines.

In its investigation of herbal and chemical ingredients, the work of the apothecary may be regarded as a precursor of the modern sciences of chemistry and pharmacology, prior to the formulation of the scientific method.
